RT Medical is looking for a Social Worker with a Master’s Degree to join our virtual clinic

As a Social Worker with our team you will:

  • Work with patients in retirement homes or long-term care facilities offering virtual support services for patients and families
  • Conduct comprehensive psycho-social assessments by methods such as interviewing the client, obtaining relevant information, gathering social data regarding the client’s family, environment, living situation, and financial status, and interpreting the data to therapeutically impact the client’s and family’s coping abilities and intervenes in cases of complex social-emotional or family issues.
  • Provide individual, family and group counselling services by methods such as exploring emotional responses to illness/injury in order to identify problems, personal concerns and treatment objectives and to facilitate change in coping style, behaviour, attitude, feelings and adaptive responses to an adverse life event.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members
  • Prepare and maintain client records by methods such as documenting client assessments, interventions, evaluations, modifications and client goals in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures
  • Assisting with filling out EI and disability forms if needed
  • Identify applicable community resources for clients and facilitate care throughout the continuum

What you bring

  • Master’s degree in a social sciences discipline relevant to the job from a recognized program, such as Social Work, Counselling Psychology, or Clinical Psychology.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience working in an interdisciplinary setting that includes experience with individuals, couples, families and group work; program and community development; adjustment and grief counselling
  • As per our Standards of Practice, demonstrated aptitude and experience in brief evidence-based therapy models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Systems Theory, Solution-Focused Therapy, Supportive Therapy, Crisis Counselling, Group Therapy and Resource Counselling.
  • In good standing with either the College of Registered Psychotherapists or the College of Social Workers

You also have:

  • Skilled in technology and experience with various EMR’s and Microsoft Teams
  • Comfortable working remotely and in a virtual telehealth environment
  • Be able to work in unique, fast-paced environments
  • Broad knowledge of systems thinking as it related to social work process.
  • Teach and provide effective consultation
  • Experience with other health disciplines and their role in healthcare.
  • Legislation and government policies and procedures that relate to the client.
  • Excellent critical thinking, synthesis, organizational and decision-making skills
  • High adaptability capacity
  • Experience with senior patients is an asset
  • Licensed in other provinces is an asset
