Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has been ruled out of Wednesday’s La Liga match against Getafe due to injury and remains a doubt for the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona this weekend.

The 25-year-old suffered the injury during Real Madrid’s 2-1 Champions League quarter-final second-leg defeat to Arsenal, limping off in the 75th minute after a collision with Declan Rice.

Head coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed during a pre-match press conference on Tuesday that both Mbappe and defender Ferland Mendy will miss the Getafe trip but are working to return in time for Saturday’s final.

“They are not ready just yet, but they will train over the next few days,” Ancelotti said. “I believe both should be fit by Saturday.”

Mbappe, who was suspended for Real Madrid’s 1-0 win over Athletic Club on Sunday, was jeered by some fans at the Bernabeu during the match.

Ancelotti defended the player, stating that he is committed to recovering and contributing to the team.

“He is upset because he wants to help the team. He is doing everything he can to recover and be there on Saturday,” the coach added.

Real Madrid will face arch-rivals Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final and Mbappe’s availability remains a key concern ahead of the high-stakes encounter.
