<p>A <a target="_blank" href="http://gistreel.com/tag/medical-student"><strong>medical student</strong></a> of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (<strong>UNN</strong>), has taken to social media to call out the institution for allegedly expelling him over <strong>examination malpractice</strong> — a claim he insists is false.</p>
<p>The student, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed his frustration through a post shared via an X (formerly Twitter) page, @injusticeunec.</p>
<p>According to him, he was unfairly expelled from the medical school despite the lack of evidence linking him to any wrongdoing.</p>
<p>He maintained his innocence and vowed to continue speaking out until he gets justice.</p>
<p>In his words: “<em>My mental health has been messed up by the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC). My right to fair hearing has been denied. But I will never give up until I get justice.”</em></p>
<p>“<em>I was falsely accused of exam malpractice and expelled from medical school. This is the story of how injustice, silence, and power ruined the dream I had worked so hard for. I’m speaking out now because I have nothing left to lose — only truth to gain.”</em></p>
<p>Recounting his ordeal, he stated: <em>“I was a 300-level medical student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. By now, I should’ve been in 400 Level. But my life was turned upside down after I wrote my 2nd MBBS Physiology exam on November 1, 2024.”</em></p>
<p>The situation escalated when he received a phone call accusing him of malpractice: <em>“I got a call: ‘You’ve been accused of malpractice.’ They said some classmates wrote petitions against me. I was confused. Then I was summoned before a school panel — a room full of lecturers. I had no idea what was coming.”</em></p>
<p>During the hearing, the student was shown his essay script: <em>“They showed me my essay script… I confirmed it was mine. Same handwriting. Same answers I remembered. Then they hit me with it: ‘This is not one of the official exam booklets. It’s an external script.’ I was shocked. I didn’t bring any external script.”</em></p>
<p>He maintained that he wrote the exam with the booklet given by the invigilator: <em>“I used what the invigilator gave me. We even signed the register twice that day. How would I even get access to an unofficial script in a professional exam setting?”</em></p>
<p>He described the panel as being hostile and interrogative: <em>“The panel became hostile. They interrogated me with over four Physiology questions — like it was a trap.”</em></p>
<p>He was questioned by lecturers including Dr. Esugorie and Mrs. Ikekpazu, and asked if he had dealings with a lecturer named Mr. Ossai. <em>“I said the truth: ‘I only know him as a lecturer.’ Nothing more. No private dealings. But they pushed further: ‘You paid him for the script, didn’t you?’ I said no. They didn’t believe me.”</em></p>
<p>“<em>They pressured me to admit something I never did. I left the room feeling helpless, humiliated, and broken. Still… there was no evidence. Nothing.”</em></p>
<p>Following the hearing, he said his results for Physiology, Anatomy, and Biochemistry were withheld.</p>
<p>He later found out he was not alone: <em>“Over 60 students from Medicine and Medical Rehabilitation were also affected.”</em></p>
<p>Despite the situation, he insisted he would not be silenced: <em>“I’m not staying silent anymore. If this happened to me, it could happen to anyone. We need transparency. We need fairness. We need justice.”</em></p>
<p>He also alleged that no proper trial was conducted and students were not given a chance to appeal: “<em>No fair trial. No right to appeal. The Dean, Prof. Esom, told the Senate that we ‘exchanged scripts during the exam.’ Yet till today, they’ve shown no proof. We weren’t even allowed to speak for ourselves.”</em></p>
<p>He concluded his statement by recalling the school’s final decision: “<em>Fast forward to May 28th, after seven months, the case was taken to the school senate by the Dean, stating that we exchanged our scripts in the exam hall — which never happened. The senate’s final justice was expelling the 59 students involved.”</em></p>
