The Nigerian forward, who joined Boro on loan from Sevilla in January, found the net just three minutes after halftime, canceling out Michal Helik’s opener for Oxford.
Brazilian defender Neto Borges then sealed the win with a close-range finish in the 80th minute.
The victory marks Middlesbrough’s third consecutive home league win, boosting their push for a Championship playoff spot.
Michael Carrick’s men are now level on points with sixth-placed West Bromwich Albion, while Coventry City sits just two points ahead with seven matches left in the season.
For Iheanacho, whose form at Middlesbrough has been inconsistent, this goal is a timely boost.
The 28-year-old was left out of Nigeria’s squad for the March international break but will look to build on his performance as Boro aim for promotion.
