Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is urging the club to move quickly for Christopher Nkunku, with reports suggesting the Gunners are ready to challenge a host of rivals for the Chelsea forward’s signature.
Nkunku, signed by Chelsea for £52 million from RB Leipzig in 2023, endured a frustrating debut season due to persistent injuries, managing just 14 league appearances and three goals.
His fitness has since improved, but his form remains inconsistent, prompting Chelsea to consider offloading him this summer.
Despite his struggles, the 27-year-old France international retains significant market value, given his past exploits in the Bundesliga, where he was Player of the Season in 2021/22 and top scorer the following campaign.
According to The Sun, Arteta sees Nkunku as a low-risk, high-reward option who could flourish under Arsenal’s structured attacking setup.
The move would mirror the Gunners’ successful acquisition of Kai Havertz, also from Chelsea, who has since become a central figure at the Emirates.
Arsenal face stiff competition from Manchester United, Liverpool and West Ham.
