Reports to: Front Desk Supervisor
Location: Hamilton, ON
Hours of Work: 37.5
Start Date: TBD
Posting Date: December 4, 2023
Closing Date: December 15, 2023
Maintain the daily operations of the Front Desk including reception, customer service, membership and program sales, in addition to member/client/community support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support YWCA Hamilton mission, vision and values;
- Answer customer inquiries and accurately redirect as required;
- Promote and sell programs;
- Manage all payment transactions;
- Balance daily cash and float;
- Process all Fitness memberships and activate membership cards;
- Process all computer registrations;
- Monitor building security and screen clients and visitors;
- Sort and distribute mail for Staff, Residents and Tenant Groups;
- Record daily incidents and communication in appropriate log books;
- Manage keys for rental and/or user groups;
- Respond to customer/residents needs/emergencies;
- Attend and participate in team/staff and supervision meetings when required;
- Work safely, report all workplace hazards and follow all YWCA Hamilton Health and Safety policies and procedures;
- Be familiar and adhere to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety Insurance Board Act (WSIA), Human Rights and Employment Standards Act;
- Attend and participate in mandatory training such as but not limited to WHMIS, Health and Safety Training, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training and Anti-Racism Anti Oppression Training (ARAO);
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Relevant post-secondary education or working toward the completion of post-secondary education in a related field or combination of related work and academic experience;
- Must have related customer service experience;
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, team environment;
- Excellent organizational skills and detail;
- Excellent problem-solving skills; proactive in anticipating needs or potential problems;
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Must be flexible, able to work various shifts of days, afternoons, evenings & weekends;
- Experience working in a diverse community and setting;
- Experience processing payment transactions and balancing cash;
- Ability to promote and sell programs;
- Proficiency with MS Office Applications including but not limited to Word, Excel and Outlook;
- Working from a feminist, anti-oppressive /anti-racist perspective;
- Bilingual English/French or other languages an asset;
- Must provide a current Police Check and current Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate or willingness to obtain at own time &cost.
NECESSARY TRAINING:
- Non-Violent Crisis Prevention/Intervention – Annual;
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) – Annual (All YWCA Employees);
- Health and Safety Training;
- Accessibility for Ontarians With Disabilities (AODA);
- Anti-Racism Anti Oppression Training (ARAO);
- Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate;
- Other training as required.
