<p><b>What You&#8217;ll Do Here:</b><br />
 Administration </p>
<ul>
<li>Preparation and monitoring of the department budget.</li>
<li>Prepare and / or approve Employee Requisitions for additional staff as required.</li>
<li>Conduct prospective employee interviews and, in conjunction with HR, set appropriate salary level.</li>
<li>Review employee performance and facilitate goal-setting to support departmental and organizational objectives.</li>
<li>Facilitate staff training and professional development and monitor progress.</li>
<li>Prepare and implement department succession plan / staffing plan.</li>
</ul>
<p> Technical signatory for Aecon Nuclear on Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) Certificate of Authorization. </p>
<ul>
<li>Provide input for employee salary merit increases and performance bonuses.</li>
<li>Review/approve staff travel and travel expense reports per policy.</li>
<li>Establish engineering tool requirements (hardware and software) and associated budgets with IT.</li>
<li>Review and approve purchase of industry codes and standards.</li>
<li>Responsible for preparation and approval of engineering procedures.</li>
<li>Prepare monthly reports as required.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Technical Leadership</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Technical lead at meetings with Senior Management and Customers as required.</li>
<li>Assume overall responsibility for engineering oversight of sublet engineering suppliers. Hold review meetings toidentify and quantify technical risks.</li>
<li>Ensures all engineering activities within Aecon Nuclear Engineering comply with the Professional Engineers Actof Ontario</li>
<li>Provide advice and support to Project Engineering staff during project execution</li>
<li>Support resolution of complex or unusual engineering problems.</li>
<li>Support the evaluation and qualification of Design (Engineering) Service Providers (DSP&#8217;s) on Aecon&#8217;s ApprovedSuppliers List (ASL).</li>
<li>Ensure technical offerings and solutions consider constructability and are cost effective.</li>
<li>Proposal Preparation/Sales and Marketing Support</li>
<li>Prepare and deliver technical presentations for internal and external customers.</li>
<li>Attend meetings with Sales, Proposal Management, Purchasing and Estimating.</li>
<li>Draft proposal engineering schedule and proposal technical strategy.</li>
<li>Prepare and / or Review Technical portions of the Proposal as required.</li>
<li>Prepare/approve engineering load boards and man-hour estimates.</li>
<li>Ensure product offering complies with standards.</li>
<li>Assist in the preparation of risk assessments.</li>
<li>Review / approve technical deviations/clarifications for bid submission.</li>
<li>Project Support</li>
<li>Support selection of Design Service Providers as required.</li>
<li>Monitor Design Service Provider cost and schedule performance.</li>
<li>Support engineered equipment RFP, bid evaluation and vendor selection as required</li>
<li>Monitor Aecon engineering budgets, schedule, execution plans and strategies.</li>
<li>Work with Proposal and Project Management to develop project execution plans and schedules.</li>
<li>Provide support and mentoring to Project Engineering and Project Coordinator staff during project execution.</li>
<li>May be required to address specific technical issues at a Senior Management or Customer level.</li>
</ul>
<p> New Product Development </p>
<ul>
<li>Work with Business Development to determine technology needs and direction.</li>
<li>Support Small Modular Reactor (SMR) program.</li>
<li>Approve design development and prototype testing requirements for first of a kind initiatives.</li>
<li>Initiate and / or participate in formal and informal (peer) design reviews</li>
<li>Prepare / approve patent applications.</li>
<li>What you will bring to the team:</li>
<li>Engineering Degree with P. Eng. designation</li>
<li>Ideally 10-15 years experience in the Power Generation Industry with knowledge of nuclear plant construction</li>
<li>and operation</li>
<li>Knowledge of CSA and ASME codes related to nuclear power plants and associated equipment</li>
<li>Previous Management and / or supervisory experience</li>
</ul>
