The Arriva UK Trains recruitment function is expanding.

We’re looking for two more people to join our small but highly energetic team.

We have one permanent position, based in Birmingham, and the opportunity of a 9-month fixed-term contract, based in London.

We’re responsible for supporting recruiting activity across all our operating companies . These are Arriva Rail London, CrossCountry Trains, Chiltern Railways, Grand Central, Arriva Road & Transport Services, and Arriva TrainCare.

As an Assistant Recruiter you’ll be supporting Talent Acquisition Partners with the whole recruitment process – starting with the attraction of candidates through to making job offers and conducting pre-employment checks.

Previous recruitment experience is not required for this role.

We’re looking for people with excellent communication skills, and a passion for providing great service to hiring managers and candidates. . You’ll also need to have excellent organisational skills to be able to prioritise work, and the ability to cope with pressure and deadlines.

Subject to qualifying criteria, there will also be the opportunity to complete a complete a Level 2 recruitment apprenticeship. This is designed to help those working in recruitment develop expert candidate attraction and sourcing techniques, and eligibility for professional registration of the Institute of Recruitment Professionals or Institute of Recruiters.

Responsibilities

Support the Talent Acquisition Partners with the end-to-end recruitment process.

Identify, attract and shortlist candidates for the recruitment process

Initiate, build and maintain relationships with candidates

Monitor responses/applications received and make sure that candidate’s applications are processed efficiently

Support with screening applications

Interview and assessment centre scheduling

Deliver and coordinate recruitment-related activity as appropriate. Examples include opens days, career fairs and/or school/college visits.

Work with external marketing and/or events suppliers, as required

Support the job posting process on job boards and various advertising channels as required

Arrange psychometric testing, liaising with candidates and assessors

Contribute to the development of a recruitment resourcing plan

Comply with all relevant legislation and policies

Qualifications

Experience within customer service, with administrative duties

Ability to work to tight deadlines and achieving targets

Customer-focused

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to persuade through relationships and rapport

Familiarity with MS Excel, Power Point, and Word.

Flexibility to travel across the Arriva network as and when required
