TEMP – Maintenance Engineer 2 – Painter
You perform highly diversified duties to upkeep and maintain the property’s facilities while ensuring a safe, functional, and beautiful environment for our guests and colleagues.

What you will be doing:
- Consistently offering professional, engaging, and friendly service
- Painting of interior and exterior areas of the hotel (brush, roller, spray gun, or other applicator)
- Covering surfaces for painting, including walls, ceilings, and floors
- Preparing various surfaces for painting by washing, scraping, burning, sanding, sandblasting or other means as necessary
- Cutting in free hand and/or with tape, spot priming, rolling walls and feathering out a patch in the middle of a wall
- Caulking, filling, sanding of interior trim; patching and sanding drywall; cutting and rolling interior walls and trim
- Interior spraying of trim and ceilings and exterior spraying of siding
- Mixing, matching, and blending various paints, enamels, lacquers, varnishes, stains and special protective coatings to achieve desired color, consistency, and drying properties
- Caulking, using putties, cements, and plasters on holes and cracks
- Identifying deficiencies in finished drywall, millwork/mouldings, cabinets, appliances, tiles, tubs/ showers, fixtures, flooring, windows, ceilings, and repairing
- Assisting with the preventative maintenance program, upkeep and repair
- Maintaining inventory of painting materials and supplies
- Prioritizing repairs/tasks and working in an efficient manner
- Ensuring stock area is orderly at all times
- Upholding the highest standard of internal and external customer service at all times
- Supporting and following the Hotel’s Health & Safety mission and program
- Actively participating in and promoting the Company’s sustainability and environmental program
- Working closely with the Chief Engineer and team to assist with the successful completion of projects and renovations
- Follow all other policies, procedures, and standards of the Hotel and Company
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Your experience and skills include:
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as professional painter with experience in wallpapering, drywall patching and repair
- Journeyman or equivalent Trade Qualification
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, Excel, and industry-related software
- Keen attention to detail
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and problem solving abilities
- Highly responsible & reliable
- Must be a self-starter and self-motivator with ability to take initiative
- Ability to work well under limited supervision
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain positive and objective outlook in challenging situations
- Must be physically fit and well-groomed
- Ability to use ladders between 8 to 32 feet both indoors and outdoors
- Ability to lead by example with a consistently high standard of performance
- Ability to work well with team members
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, overnights, rotating shifts, extended hours, and available for emergencies
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
The physical job requirements include:
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50lbs
- Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, bending
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
