About the role

Join the Commercial Solutions sector in the role of Specialist, Operational Policy Analysis. In this role you will be able to utilize your strong problem-solving, critical thinking and communication skills to support the Multi-Unit Underwriting team in leading the conceptualization, development, and implementation of new and/or existing policies, procedures, processes, products, and/or services.

This is a temporary position of a duration of 12 months.

What you’ll do:

  • You will provide expert and comprehensive advice, guidance, and recommendations to Multi-Unit Underwriting team & management on interpretation and implementation of policies, products, and/or services including responding to priority issues.
  • You will obtain input from internal stakeholders and clients on issues and opportunities related to policies, products, services and/or systems.
  • You will develop a variety of written documentation, presentations, and briefing materials for Multi-Unit Underwriting team.
  • You will lead the development and operationalization of procedures & processes for Multi-Unit Underwriting.
  • You will ensure procedures accurately reflect reality and meet client needs.
  • You will provide effective risk management and audit support and corrective action management.
  • You will represent the Multi-Unit Underwriting team as the Subject Matter Expert where required, on committees, task force/working groups, and project teams.

What You Should Have:

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field such as Social Science, Business Administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of five years of prior related experience including 3 years’ experience in leading the conceptualization, development, and implementation of new and/or existing policies, procedures, processes, products, and/or services.
  • Demonstrated analytical, creative, and conceptual skills to effectively contribute to business objectives and strategic direction.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including presentation, influencing, negotiation and networking skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, plan for and complete multiple concurrent tasks.
  • A demonstrated ability to analyze business processes and/or procedure design, workflows while making recommendations and providing advice.
  • A knowledge of mortgage and housing markets.

It would be nice if you also had:

  • A solid understanding of the Canadian housing market (construction, rental, multi-unit development).
  • Experience or certification using process improvement methodologies such as Lean Six-Sigma.
  • Experience in risk management or audit and evaluation.
  • Experience working on initiatives with political and cultural sensitivities.
  • SharePoint & Teams experience.
