<p data-pm-slice="1 1 []">A <strong>Nigerian man</strong>, Dr. Enyi Onyebuchi Paul, has gone viral after it was revealed that he works as a cleaner at Ebonyi State University (EBSU) in Abakaliki, despite holding three academic degrees, including a PhD in Mathematics Education.</p>
<p>Dr. Enyi, who hails from Ikelegu Ishieke in the Ndiabor community of <strong>Ebonyi</strong> Local Government Area, reportedly started his job at the university in 2007 as a cleaner/messenger.</p>

<p>Over the years, he diligently pursued his education, earning a Bachelor of Science (BSc), a Master of Science (MSc), and ultimately a Doctorate (PhD) — all from the same institution where he remains in a menial role.</p>
<p>The story was brought to public attention by Odo Godfrey Chikwere, a journalist with Legacy 95.1 FM in Abakaliki.</p>
<p>In a social media post, Odo expressed concern over Dr. Enyi’s situation, highlighting the stark contrast between his academic qualifications and his current position.</p>
<p>“<em>This is Dr. Enyi Onyebuchi Paul. He got a job at Ebonyi State University in 2007 as a cleaner/messenger. He struggled to see himself through university education in the same school, earning a PhD in 2022</em>,” Odo wrote.</p>
<p>He lamented that despite earning the highest academic qualification, Dr. Enyi still earns less than N70,000 a month in a position far below his qualifications.</p>
<p>Odo further called on prominent figures from Dr. Enyi’s community, Izzi, to step in and ensure that his qualifications are used to secure a more suitable role.</p>
<p><em>“Izzi big men, this is one of your brothers with PhD earning 70,000 a month in EBSU. I ran into this guy’s case, he is a PhD holder in Mathematics Education earning less than 70,000 per month in EBSU. This guy’s case should be an embarrassment to any Izzi man he approached for assistance but they turned him down</em>,<em>”</em> Odo added.</p>
<p>Efforts by <em>Legit.ng</em> to reach both Dr. Enyi and Odo for further comment are ongoing.</p>
<p>Dr. Enyi’s story has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing outrage over the university’s failure to offer him a position that befits his qualifications.</p>
