Its mandate is to help newcomers and refugees settle&comma; adjust&comma; and integrate into society&period; Funded by the three levels of government&comma; WoodGreen Newcomer Programs &amp&semi; Services operates English language training programs&comma; settlement services&comma; employment support programs&comma; mentorship&comma; networking activities&comma; and social and recreational activities&period; Newcomer Programs &amp&semi; Services is committed to providing friendly and professional services to all newcomers to help them connect with Canadian society and their new way of life&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> <b>What You Will Do<&sol;b><br &sol;>&NewLine; <&sol;p>&NewLine;<ul>&NewLine;<li>Provide one-on-one support to newcomers and families in their settlement and integration process with focus on employment&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Work closely with newcomers to assess their skills&comma; qualifications&comma; and career goals&period; Develop personalized employment action plans to support their job search and career development&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Provide job search coaching&comma; including resume writing&comma; interview preparation&comma; and job application support&period; Connect clients internally and externally with job coaches&comma; employment advisor&comma; and employment-related resources&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Identify skills gaps and recommend relevant training or certification programs to enhance clients&&num;8217&semi; employability&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>With the support of the WoodGreen employment team&comma; navigate local employers and industry stakeholders to identify job opportunities for newcomers&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Offer guidance on workplace culture and employment rights to help clients navigate the Canadian job market effectively&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Plan&comma; develop&comma; facilitate&comma; and evaluate group programs and activities&comma; including online workshops&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Maintain accurate&comma; up-to-date records&comma; including statistical data and complete reports&comma; and enter data into relevant data management systems and meet the prescribed targets&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Collaborate with other WoodGreen teams and agencies to plan services to meet these needs&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Actively works with schools&comma; libraries&comma; community organizations&comma; recreational centres&comma; faith organizations&comma; local employers&comma; health and family centres&comma; local immigrant groups&comma; malls&comma; ethnic media and websites to maximize newcomers&&num;8217&semi; and immigrants’ access to resources and to enhance capacity for services&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Attend community meetings&comma; activities and events&comma; and actively professionally promote WoodGreen&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Ensure the organization&&num;8217&semi;s anti-racism objectives and community development principles are achieved within the program&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Participates in regular supervisory sessions with the Manager of Settlement Services&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Performs other related duties as required from time to time&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<&sol;ul>&NewLine;<p> <b>What You Bring to the Team<&sol;b><br &sol;>&NewLine; <&sol;p>&NewLine;<ul>&NewLine;<li>Bachelor’s degree in social work&comma; Education&comma; or a related discipline<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Minimum of two &lpar;2&rpar; years experience working one-on-one to provide employment-focused settlement services to newcomers&comma; including refugees&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<&sol;ul>&NewLine;<p> What Will Set You Apart<br &sol;>&NewLine; <&sol;p>&NewLine;<ul>&NewLine;<li>Strong knowledge of resources for all newcomers&comma; including refugees<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Strong knowledge of newcomer employment is required&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Fluency in a second language is a vital asset&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Experience working with low-income&comma; multi-racial&comma; multi-lingual immigrant and refugee communities&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills&semi; ability to establish rapport and effective communication with clients&comma; staff&comma; volunteers&comma; and agency partners&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Cultural sensitivity and ability to communicate with clients from diverse cultures and backgrounds&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Demonstrated experience in case management and supportive counselling&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Knowledge and experience of employment practices and the Canadian job market<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Experienced in workshop development&comma; evaluation&comma; and facilitation&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Strong organizational&sol;planning skills and ability to meet deadlines&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Strong technology and documentation skills to inform the program and meet organizational and funder requirements&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Available to work weekend and evening hours and at multi-sites&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Due to WoodGreen&&num;8217&semi;s multi-site locations&comma;
