In NC, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains. The Position

Oversee capital build-out and process improvement projects from design through regulatory preparation with a focus on Operations involvement. Serve as project point person/lead with specialized subgroups from various internal and external disciplines. Accountable for building the strategic organization to support the design, construction and implementation of all new buildings, facilities and utilities through release and turnover to system owner. This is a key role integrated into the project management and execution team accountable for managing strategic projects through oversight of a large project team to include NNPILP employees & contingent workers (contractors).

Reports to Project Director.

Essential Functions

  • Design, establish, & maintain an organizational structure & staffing to effectively accomplish the goals & objectives of the project, as well as recruit, train, oversee, & deploy technical & functional staff
  • Oversee one or more complex projects originating within the Operations Department (Manufacturing, Process, Facilities Engineering, Project Management/cLEAN, etc.) and acting as conduit from project conception through regulatory submission
  • Assist with steering committee leadership on large multidisciplinary projects
  • Ensure consistency with strategies as communicated from senior management and liaise with customers at project level to include the project sponsor and senior management to drive timely activity, integration, productivity, and efficient use of resources to meet requirements
  • Confirm all compliance requirements and guide project appropriately to ensure job duties and responsibilities are being performed in a compliant and ethical manner; in accordance with all applicable healthcare laws, regulations, and industry codes
  • Provide support and project management training for staff
  • Facilitate communication as appropriate to all involved and effectively manage individuals with a vested interest in the project or initiative
  • Establish appropriate Key Success Indicators and manage trade-offs between scope, quality, time, and cost
  • Track and report progress and forecast final targets
  • Proactively manage and communicate risks to prevent delay &cost impacts to projects, to include preventing critical path or unexpected items from derailing project through documenting and communicating as appropriate to management staff
  • Document, track and assess impact of all changes in project parameters as well as all obstacles, delays, and claims
  • Ensure closure of documentation according to project milestones and archive appropriate records
  • Direct and lead the project safety team ensuring project-related execution is performed under Novo Nordisk EHS standards, to include ensuring external contractors are also operating under the same standards
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Other accountabilities, as assigned

Physical Requirements

May move equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. May be required to be on your feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May required corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. May require the ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protections.

Development of People

Supervisory, ensure that reporting personnel have Individual Development Plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Project Management, Construction Management, or relevant field of study from an accredited university required
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Project Management, Construction Management, or relevant field of study from an accredited university preferred
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of proven & successful project management and/or construction management experience required
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of direct supervisory experience required
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of related experience in a cGMP regulated pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry required
  • Knowledge of organizational structure, staffing patterns & job design required
  • Budget preparation & fiscal management experience required
  • Ability to read/review design drawings CAD (Computer Aided Design) with a basic understanding of P&ID’s (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) required
  • Thorough understanding of technical documents such as URS (User Requirement Specification), SAT (Site Acceptance Testing), FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), & Validation Protocols required
  • Goal oriented and action focused, pragmatic and self-disciplined, accomplished at project planning, organizing, communication and team motivation required
  • Independent and responsive to input, diplomacy and persuasion, ability to find common ground and resolution required
  • Proven success managing both people and projects required
  • Proven track record of being a team player, driving team participation, maintaining team accountability required
