- Your mission is to enable Climeworks’ entry and growth in Canada, with a pronounced emphasis on policy and building government support, as well as project development activities, at both the federal and provincial levels.
- You spearhead the advancement of public funding and enabling policies for Direct Air Capture (DAC), ensuring a robust policy support environment in Canada.
- You play a vital role in supporting project development activities, contributing to the successful deployment of Climeworks’ large-scale DAC plants in Canada.
- You build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders and influencers, fostering a positive and collaborative reputation for Climeworks.
- You engage with government bodies, Indigenous peoples and communities, environmental organizations, and industry leaders to promote DAC technology.
- You represent Climeworks as a spokesperson and advocate in events, conferences, and in national and local media to increase awareness and understanding of DAC technology among key opinion leaders
- You monitor and submit written input to relevant political and scientific initiatives, such as stakeholder consultations and scientific white papers.
- You possess a Master’s degree in Public Relations, Economics, Environmental Science, Engineering, Climate Policy, or a closely related field.
- You have a proven track record of advancing policy or business outcomes within industry, government, NGOs, think tanks, or equivalent.
- You have an in-depth knowledge of climate and/or energy policy, with a demonstrated ability to analyze and contribute to policy development.
- You have a deep understanding of the political landscape in Canada, including the interaction between climate and economic policies and provincial-federal dynamics. You can proactively identify and anticipate political and climate-related trends and challenges.
- You are a strong networker with a track record of building enduring working relationships with key stakeholders, decision-makers, and influencers.
- You have a solid understanding of climate technologies and mitigation efforts, such as renewable energy systems, carbon capture utilization and storage (CCU, CCS), afforestation and reforestation, and waste management. Direct experience with carbon management is a significant asset.
- You can manage complex projects within a team and across units, ensuring successful execution and delivery.
- Your exceptional writing and strong verbal communication skills make you an effective representative and advocate. You can express complex and technical concepts in accessible and persuasive ways.
- You confidently navigate and engage with the full diversity of civil society, demonstrating interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence. You have a knowledge of the diverse First Nations, Métis and Inuit histories, cultures, traditions, beliefs and protocols.
- You are fluent in English. Additional fluency in French or other languages is a plus.
- You are based in Western Canada or Ottawa and you are willing to travel up to 40%.
