<p> We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Engineering Technician to join our Construction Services team in Myrtle Beach, North Carolina.</p>
<p> Job Snapshot:</p>
<p> As a Senior Engineering Technician, you will make a difference! The field testing and observations of construction materials you perform each day help ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications. You will see construction projects from beginning to end, documenting the successful placement and use of soil, concrete, rebar, asphalt, aggregate, and other building materials. It is our job to make sure it is &#8220;built right&#8221;, and at S&;ME we take that responsibility very seriously. Join us and become part of the team that makes construction a success.</p>
<p> Complete transparency, working outside (most of the time) isn&#8217;t for everyone, and some projects are more spectacular than others. However, as you advance in your career, you will see more and more projects where you can say, &#8220;I helped them build that.&#8221;</p>
<p><b>Responsibilities can include:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Reviewing plans and specifications in preparation for field observations on construction sites</li>
<li>Documenting field activities, observations, and testing results on projects</li>
<li>Daily use of Metafield®, and/or other field and laboratory information management systems</li>
<li>Calibrating field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards</li>
<li>Perform Special Inspection observations per the International Building Code (IBC)</li>
<li>Communicating daily with management staff, general contractors, and clients</li>
<li>Ability to mentor less experienced construction staff and interns</li>
<li>Ability to train and coach less-experienced construction staff in testing and observation procedures</li>
<li>Coordination and direction of others on projects requiring multiple construction staff</li>
<li>Assisting project manager with plan and specification review for proposal preparation, project assignments, and training</li>
<li>Serve as a Special Inspection agent, based on certifications and local IBC requirements</li>
<li>Assisting project manager with resolutions for deviations from project plans and specifications</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Required Qualifications:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>High School diploma/GED</li>
<li>Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials</li>
<li>Two or More Active Certification(s):</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician</li>
<li>NICET: Construction Materials Testing (Asphalt, Concrete, Soils)</li>
<li>International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)</li>
<li>DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Density, Asphalt, and Concrete</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Working Conditions and Physical Demands:</b></p>
<p> You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as: </p>
<ul>
<li>Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions</li>
<li>Walking over rough and uneven terrain</li>
<li>Standing up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasion</li>
<li>Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)</li>
<li>Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites</li>
<li>Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary</li>
<li>Working outside of normal business hours when necessary</li>
</ul>
