Financial Reporting is responsible for the preparation of financial reports in accordance with United States &lpar;US&rpar; Generally Accepted Accounting Principles &lpar;GAAP&rpar; as well as the applicable regulations in Canada and the US&period; The incumbent works with internal stakeholders ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial information&period; The role has significant interaction and exposure to senior and executive leadership team&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> <b>Main Responsibilities<&sol;b><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Internal Reporting<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> &CenterDot; Prepare account reconciliations by legal company entity&comma; for all corporate general ledger accounts such as revenue and receivables related accounts&comma; investment accounts&comma; environmental liabilities&comma; and various accrued liabilities accounts<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> &CenterDot; Comply with corporate accounting policies and procedures regarding Systems&comma; Applications and Procedures &lpar;SAP&rpar; transaction processing<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> &CenterDot; Prepare and review internal financial reports and presentations with internal stakeholders such as Investor Relations&comma; Taxation&comma; Human Resources&comma; and Financial Planning<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> &CenterDot; Follow key internal controls over financial reporting and identify potential process improvements to create efficiencies<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Projects<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> &CenterDot; Assist in the accounting review of significant&comma; complex and&sol;or non-routine transactions entered into by the Company&comma; or initiated by the various regulatory bodies in Canada and the US&comma; and communication of financial impacts related thereto to the Managers&comma; Senior Managers&comma; or to senior and executive leadership team when appropriate<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> &CenterDot; Collaborate on special projects that will have an accounting implication such as acquisitions and divestitures<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> &CenterDot; Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency or effectiveness of existing processes<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> External Reporting<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> &CenterDot; Prepare quarterly and annual reports as required by Canadian Securities Commissions and US Security and Exchange Commission &lpar;SEC&rpar; for the Company&&num;8217&semi;s consolidated operations<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> &CenterDot; Compile and maintain month-end checklists and electronic binders&comma; including financial statement disclosure&comma; on designated areas<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> &CenterDot; Assist other team members during quarterly and annual close process<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> &CenterDot; Lead the internal controls of the above noted processes in accordance with the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley &lpar;SOX&rpar;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> &CenterDot; Work closely with auditors to provide information and clarification during internal and external audits<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> &CenterDot; Prepare quarterly and annual reports as required by the Surface Transportation Board &lpar;STB&rpar; for the Company&&num;8217&semi;s US consolidated railroad companies and the Canadian Transportation Agency &lpar;CTA&rpar; for the Company&&num;8217&semi;s Canadian consolidated railroad companies<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> <b>Working Conditions<&sol;b><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday and will currently be eligible to participate in CN&&num;8217&semi;s flexible work from home policy&period;
