Senegal’s Lions of Teranga have qualified for the knockout stage of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), after beating Cameroon 3-1.
Goals from Ismaila Sarr, Habib Diallo, and Sadio Mané gave the African champions the deserved victory.
Sarr put his team ahead in the first half, despites efforts by the Cameroonians for an equalizer.
Senegal continued their strong dominance in the second half, as Diallo doubled their lead, courtesy of an assist from Sarr.
In the stoppage time, Saudi Pro League player and former Liverpool star Mane found his first goal of the tournament, and setting his team up for the knockout stages, despite having one game left to play in Group C.
Although Jean-Charles Castelletto pulled one back for Cameroon in the 83rd minute, it had no effect in the game.
Cameroon are yet to win a single match in their last two games at the 2023 AFCON and face the threat of elimination if they lose the next against Gambia, and Guinea gaining a point against Senegal.
