About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a temporary full-time SAP Technical Systems Analyst III – ABAP Developer join our dynamic IT Internal Customer Experience team.
The IT Internal Customer Experience team is responsible for ensuring a positive and seamless experience for internal users within Canadian Blood Services who interact with IT services and systems.
In this role, you will be responsible to work within multiple SAP functional areas including HR, Finance, Materials Management, Plant Maintenance, Asset Management, SAP procurement and Ariba processes, ensuring appropriate levels of integration and information sharing between the team members in IT. You will also be responsible for supporting the use of SAP and its various platforms at Canadian Blood Services. This includes supporting SAP analysts and end users, using SAP information to conduct analysis, resolving end user issues, modifying existing SAP functionality and interfaces, and adding new capabilities.
Formula for success
- Utilizing your technical expertise and interpersonal skills, you will work with clients and SAP functional analysts to evaluate requirements, determine recommended solutions and to design, develop and execute SAP changes.
- Leveraging your knowledge and experience, you will actively participate in on-going development, support and continuous improvement of the SAP system and its technical landscape.
- Capitalizing on your excellent communication and collaboration skills, you will engage in insightful discussions with internal business partners and IT service groups to troubleshoot and solve issues as they arise.
- Understanding that documentation is key to knowledge transfer and system support, you will ensure that technical documentation is available, and knowledge is shared with appropriate resources.
- Being resourceful, you will investigate and stay informed about SAP technology and associated 3rd party solutions for the business and technical processes supported, including solutions deployed by other blood agencies and related industries.
- You will work both independently and within project teams and will effectively managing your workload. You will provide routine status updates on work progress, on the level of effort and timeline estimates to complete work items and identify conflicts when they arise.
Desired education and skills
- Successful completion of post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a University Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent e.g., technology diploma and/or training in software development.
- Five or more years of SAP experience, including 3 years of ABAP development experience.
- Experience working with the following SAP modules and products: HR Pay, FICO, SD, MM, PM, QM, CRM and Ariba.
- Experience with IMG, Web Dynpro, Smart Forms, Adobe Forms, SAPscript, Secure File Transfer Protocol, Idocs and Workflow is preferred.
- Experience collaborating with subject matter experts and business partners to build requirements and develop robust technical solutions that drive business outcomes and deliver exemplary user experiences.
- Excellent problem analysis, planning and organizational skills.

What you can expect
- This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at a Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/2 days of the week.
- You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day.
- If you are located outside of Ottawa, you may be expected to travel to our office location in Ottawa – 2540 Lancaster Rd, quarterly for in-person team meetings when required.
