Jadon Sancho reportedly wants to return to Borussia Dortmund, while Chelsea are considering paying a penalty to avoid making his loan move from Manchester United permanent.
Sancho started brightly at Chelsea, registering three assists in his first three Premier League games.
However, his form has dipped significantly, with just one goal and two assists in his last 20 matches.
With his struggles mounting, the 24-year-old is now keen on a return to Dortmund, where he previously thrived.
Chelsea are currently obligated to sign Sancho for £25 million in the summer but could instead pay a £5 million penalty to cancel the deal and send him back to Manchester United.
Former Germany international Dietmar Hamann believes Dortmund would welcome him back, given their current Bundesliga struggles.
“It looks like Chelsea might pay millions to send him back to Manchester United, so he might be an option for Dortmund this summer,” Hamann said.
“He took Dortmund to the Champions League final last season and I think they would have him in a heartbeat.”
For now, Sancho remains focused on Chelsea’s push for a top-four finish.
The Blues face a crucial test against Tottenham on Thursday as they look to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
