Ruben Amorim has admitted that Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund is “trying really hard” to rediscover his scoring touch.
However, he warned that the pressure he’s putting on himself is only compounding his struggles.
Hojlund, signed from Atalanta in 2023 for a significant fee, has endured a frustrating Premier League campaign, scoring just three goals across 28 appearances.
His difficulties were on full display during United’s limp 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend, intensifying speculation about a potential summer exit to help balance the club’s finances.
Despite the mounting pressure, Amorim made it clear he remains supportive of the 21-year-old:
“A striker needs to score goals… we try to help him, and he is trying really hard and wants it so badly that he makes it worse.
“He created one situation against Wolverhampton, and he is improving the small things. The goal will come,” Amorim said during a press conference.
Manchester United urgently need a response when they travel to Bournemouth this Sunday, offering Hojlund another opportunity to break his drought and prove his value.
Beyond the Premier League, United also face a vital Europa League semi-final clash against Athletic Club on May 1, where the Danish forward will be expected to step up under the continental spotlight.
