Manchester United prodigy Chido Obi-Martin has revealed a timely piece of advice from manager Ruben Amorim, who urged the 17-year-old to “be humble” and maintain his work ethic as he stakes a claim for more minutes in the senior squad.
The teenage striker, who debuted in February, has now made five substitute appearances, with his latest cameo coming in the defeat to Wolves.
Obi-Martin’s maturity and rapid adaptation to first-team football have been noted internally, especially amid Rasmus Højlund’s ongoing struggles—just three goals in 28 league matches.
“He’s just told me to be humble and keep working hard every day,” Obi-Martin told club media. “Hopefully, I get more opportunities soon.”
Obi-Martin credits his parents for instilling discipline and a coachable mindset, which is serving him well as he navigates the jump from youth football to the senior level.
“I’ve learnt to think quicker and be smarter, first-team training is another level compared to the Academy,” he added.
With Manchester United preparing to face Bournemouth this weekend, the spotlight is on Amorim’s selection.
