Job description: Position: Specialized IT Consultant – Senior – Terminology

Overview:

Our Ontario government client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Specialized IT Consultant specializing in Clinical Terminology. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience in implementing clinical terminologies, with a focus on SNOMED CT and LOINC. This role is integral to ensuring the effective application of digital exchange standards within Ontario Health.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Terminology Implementation:

Utilize a minimum of 10 years’ hands-on experience in mapping and implementing clinical terminologies, including SNOMED CT and LOINC.

Lead the implementation of clinical terminologies to enhance healthcare data exchange.

Digital Exchange Standards:

Demonstrate extensive knowledge and understanding of digital exchange standards, especially FHIR, and their application within Ontario Health.

Ensure alignment with pan-Canadian digital exchange standards and associated tooling.

Clinical Expertise:

Bring clinical experience within Canada in acute care, primary care, and/or community care settings.

Leverage clinical insights to optimize terminology implementations.

Terminology Services and Solutions:

Apply hands-on experience in implementing terminology services and solutions.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of terminology-related processes.

Communication and Stakeholder Engagement:

Exhibit excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Engage effectively with stakeholders to understand clinical requirements and convey technical information.

Time Management:

Showcase strong time management skills, with the ability to manage tight deadlines and prioritize multiple projects.

Ensure timely delivery of terminology-related initiatives.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 years’ hands-on experience in mapping and implementing clinical terminologies such as SNOMED CT and LOINC.

Clinical experience within Canada in acute care, primary care, and/or community care settings.

Extensive knowledge of digital exchange standards, including FHIR, and pan-Canadian standards.

Hands-on experience implementing terminology services and solutions.

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
