Job description: The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our growing Property Development team.

The British Heart Foundation is committed to an ambitious programme to expand and refurbish the large retail portfolio across the UK, which consists of circa 700 shops and stores.

We’re looking for a highly motivated Project Manager with a construction management background to join the existing team and deliver the Retail Division’s shop expansion and refurbishment programmes from conception to a high standard of completion. This will include undertaking measured surveys and preparing CAD plans detailing existing floor plan layouts and elevations.

You will also prepare and deliver regular progress reports to project boards and stakeholders.

Working arrangements

This is a home-based role with extensive travel throughout the UK which may require overnight stays away from home. You will also be expected to attend some meetings across the BHF offices (London, Northampton, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Belfast, Cardiff or Leeds).

About you

With excellent time management skills, you’ll have experience managing multiple projects and be able to work effectively at high volume and speed. You’ll have strong communication skills, able to build strong working relationships both across the BHF and externally. A highly effective team player, you’ll also be able to work with minimal supervision.

You’ll be computer literate with working knowledge of MS Office and AutoCAD LT.

You’ll have extensive experience of all key aspects of managing construction projects including:

  • Acquisition surveys
  • Defect analysis
  • Preparing drawings and detailed specifications
  • Contract administration
  • Submit applications for statutory consents (building regulation, planning, advert & listed building) and secure approvals.
  • Design the fit out and prepare CAD plans

You’ll have sound technical knowledge of all legislation:

  • Building regulations
  • Planning
  • CDM
  • Fire safety
  • Health & safety and asbestos
