Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:
As a New Store Opening Trainer, you plan and deliver the new store opening training program across North America and is responsible for driving the completion and quality of new store opening (NSO’s) training. In this position you will be responsible for the planning of the NSO strategy, and accountable for all training that occurs from the time the Store Manager is hired to when the store is opened. An in depth understanding of Arc’teryx retail operations and training initiatives is important and is key to the success of this role. You will report to the Senior Manager, Training Delivery and Retail training and working closely with the Program Manager of New Store Opening Training. You will be required to respond to shifting timelines with a high degree of responsibility and action. A high level of communication, leadership, and collaboration is imperative to success in this role. Your role on the Retail Training team is key to our organization’s growth and business goals.
This role is a remote opportunity based in Toronto, Vancouver, San Franciso/LA or New York City. Candidates must be eligible to work in the country of their location.

If you were the New Store Opening Trainer now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
- Partnering closely with the New Store Opening Project Managers to ensure training fits into the broader NSO process
- Managing the delivery of all training within the NSO process
- Partnering closely with the Program Manager, New Store Opening Training to ensure all NSO training plans fall within our NSO training strategy
- Communicating with our cross-functional partners (AS Ops, VM, Brand, etc.) on the training specific needs
- Observing, coaching, providing feedback to store teams during the NSO process
- Leading New Store Opening Training calls that are relevant to your NSOs
- Coaching and consulting with Regional Managers to advise on the available programming and the unique needs of each SM
- Coaching and advising Store Manager on best practices for role training
- Elevating concerns, gaining alignment, and advising on key decisions, expenditures, and actions within the New Store Opening Training Program
- Partnering and acting as subject matter expert to Retail Trainers throughout the process of the New Store Openings
- Connecting with the store teams and developing relationships
- Advising Program Manager, NSOT on any specific expenditures and travel that may be required per NSO
Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:
- Implementing the Store Manager Support program inside of the New Store Opening process
- Working in collaborations with the Program Manager and cross-functional teams on the development of NSO specific programming
- Designing the Full team training week, incorporating the ‘must haves’ as decided by the SM
Are you our next New Store Opening Trainer?
- You have bachelor’s degree or post-secondary education in Education, Training, Business, Project management, or a related field
- You have 3+ years of experience in a retail leadership role
- You have 2+ years experience in a retail support role such Training, or Retail Excellence
- You have 2+ years experience delivering and facilitating training
- You have advanced application of the Microsoft Suite including Excel and SharePoint
- You have excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and are a confident and skill facilitator
- You respond to changing timelines with a high degree of responsibility and action
- You have experience with new store openings in a vertical retail organization
- You have a proven track record of creating and/or delivering impactful and engaging training that meets and/or exceeds KPI’s
- You are able and willing to travel to key New Store Openings one to two times per month
- You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
- You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
- You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration
- You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement
- You seek the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions, with an unwavering commitment to do what is right
