We are looking for a Network Manager to coordinate the new “AI in the Biosciences” network project (https://aibio.ac.uk/).
This is a BBSRC-funded network to support and enhance engagement between the Bioscience and AI communities in the UK. The network will support community events, funding of pilot projects and creation of resources for supporting use of AI in the biosciences.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems are used in wide-ranging applications, from self-driving cars to language translation. Recent AI applications to the biosciences have been promising (e.g., deep learning systems for the prediction of protein structure), but efforts have been sparse and uncoordinated, and limited to groups/companies with specific expertise. Our vision is to bring together AI and core bioscience researchers to unravel biological fundamentals and tackle impeding societal challenges. The network will be the “go to” place for resources at the interface between AI and the biosciences.
As the Network Manager you will:
- Support the Principal Investigator and management group in the management of the project, including the allocation and management of research funding across multiple institutions.
- Promote the project both internally and externally, including by maintaining a dedicated project website and maintaining the project’s social media output.
- Liaise with the Management Group and Community Working Groups (on Ethics, Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), Equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI))
- Coordinate internal funding calls, referee processes and distribution of awards.
- Develop relationships with potential new partners.
- Organise outreach and engagement with the wider public in partnership with the relevant bodies.
- Support the Principal Investigator in the day-to-day running of the project.
You should have:
- Experience of project or network coordination in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Problem solving skills and experience in conflict resolution.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Ability to identify key points from complex or large amounts of information and present to disparate stakeholders.
- The ability to plan own work activities in response to differing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Experience of website and social media content design and maintenance
- Networking, actively engaging with and valuing other areas and diverse groups.
