The Role:
Our Rotating Equipment Division currently has an opening for a Field Service Millwright Team Lead located in Edmonton, Alberta. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating activities and providing general leadership and guidance to workers in the field services group. The millwright team lead is also responsible for assisting with the training of employees on various field service-related equipment, processes, and procedures.
What you will do:
Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work requirements and procedures
Install, align, disassemble, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment such as pumps, fans, gearboxes, conveyors, compressors, motors, generators, etc. according to plans and/or documentation provided
Follow all written policies and procedures safely without deviation or consult upper management for further guidance
Support a safe work environment and keep work areas neat and organized
Demonstrate consistency, accountability, reliability, and a solid work ethic
Contribute to a team environment by maintaining a positive attitude
Safely and effectively lead field crews consisting of both employees and contractors
Assign and supervise work tasks to all crew members
Travel, work overtime, and/or work irregular hours (8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts) as required
Help maintain and organize the field service department’s shop area, service trucks, trailers, tooling, and field machining equipment
Assist the QA/QC group with maintaining up-to-date calibration records for all field service tooling and measuring equipment as required
Provide superior customer service to all internal and external customers
Attend site visits and customer meetings including prospective work evaluations, pre-job meetings, technical reviews, post-job and/or lessons learned meetings, etc.
Communicate effectively, both verbally and written
Record, evaluate, and compile information and data into evaluation reports and final reports; make recommendations for further repairs
Effectively deal with disciplinary issues if required
Support sales team by identifying sales opportunities
Always exhibit and advocate exemplary safety culture
Effectively demonstrate the core values of Caterpillar
What you will have:
Journeyman Red Seal Machinist or Millwright ticket required
7+ years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Basic personal hand tools knowledge/experience
Subject Matter Expert in inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and overhauling field/plant settings of various types of industrial rotating equipment
Must be able to drive and work out of a field service vehicle; clean driver’s abstract required
Must have basic knowledge of Critical Safety Devices / Equipment and their purposes
Must be familiar with and understand Permitting Systems
Understand basic operating principles for all plant machinery and equipment
Must have the ability to perform independently or in a team setting
Must be fluent in English (read, write, comprehend)
Demonstrated ability to accurately complete all work-related documentation
Basic computer skills involving the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to effectively interact with customers and assist however required
Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions effectively and efficiently, and deal with problems that arise with minimal assistance
Self-motivated and make good decisions based upon the best and most relevant information available

Normal schedule is an 8-hour workday, Monday-Friday with the potential for deviation to meet business needs
