<p>A Nigerian <a target="_blank" href="http://gistreel.com/tag/man" rel="noopener"><strong>man</strong></a> has confirmed the death of a young man who was chased into a <strong>canal</strong> by <a target="_blank" href="http://gistreel.com/?s=police" rel="noopener"><strong>police</strong></a> officers.</p>
<p>The incident, which occurred just hours earlier, left the victim with severe head injuries, and he was placed on oxygen.</p>

<p>This tragic update was shared through a post on the popular social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.</p>
<p>In the post, the user wrote: “<em>He’s dead. He died. It’s time people start taking matters into their hands. Nobody is coming to save you. Nobody.” </em></p>
<p>This confirmation came several hours after a viral post featuring a photo of the victim being rescued from the canal.</p>
<p>Another user had initially reported the incident on X, writing: “<em>Police chased this guy into a canal, took his money, and ran off. He’s currently fighting for his life in the hospital.” </em></p>
<p>Attached to the tweet were two images showing the moment the man was pulled from the canal.</p>
<p>In a follow-up tweet, the same user provided further details, saying the man had sustained a severe head injury and had been rushed to the hospital, where he was placed on oxygen.</p>
<p>The user added, “<em>Man diagnosed with severe head injury and placed on oxygen after police chased him into a canal,</em>” while also sharing a video of the incident and a conversation attached to the post.</p>
<p>In a separate account, a friend of the victim shared more details on her X page, stating: “<em>Yesterday morning, police chased my friend’s husband until he fell into the canal.”</em></p>
<p>“<em>They took his slippers and money that fell during the chase and left when bystanders started shouting. This happened at Federal Bus Stop, Ipaja-Ayobo axis.”</em></p>
<p>“<em>He is currently unconscious at LASUTH. He has passed away, but we haven’t informed his wife yet. NIGERIAN POLICE! NIGERIAN POLICE!! NIGERIAN POLICE!!! The officers were in plain clothes.”</em></p>
<p>“<em>They stopped him on a bike, the bike man fled. They accused him of being a ‘Yahoo boy’ because of his tattoos and threatened to shoot him. When he started walking away, they pursued him until he slipped and fell.”</em></p>
<p>Hours after the tragic event, it was alleged that the man passed away, marking another troubling incident involving police brutality in Nigeria.</p>
