What is the opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager Infrastructure, IT, the Security Analyst assists with maintaining the IT security of Energy Safety Canada assets and data. This position is responsible for proactively managing and reporting on IT system and data security. This position also is responsible for incident response for security and privacy breaches.

What will you do:

  • Responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of the network and data security including recommending patch levels for all software and hardware, proactive monitoring and incident response
  • Manage Energy Safety Canada’s voice, data, and video communications infrastructure and systems including e-mail, network switches, routers, WAN Links, phone, video conferencing and firewalls
  • Responsible for regular reporting of systems status, IT Security incidents and infrastructure health
  • Development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), key performance indicators (KPIs), and service level agreements/objectives (SLAs/SLOs) for reporting to business units with the goal with increasing efficiency and stakeholder satisfaction
  • Research, recommend, and interpret policy to ensure the operational requirements of the Corporate Information Technology are consistent with Energy Safety Canada’s mission, vision and values
  • Other duties as required

What you need to succeed:

  • Post-Secondary Education in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years related work experience with a minimum of 3 years related to IT security and network
  • Certifications related to IT Security would be a strong asset
  • Experience with MDR/XDR solutions and asset
  • Highly skilled in the management and administration of IT security technologies including Next-Gen Firewalls and their associated technologies
  • Strong understanding of requirements to maintain PCI and relevant privacy compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of authentication technologies including single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, certificate based authentication
  • Network infrastructure (Ethernet switches, routers, WAN connections) administration
  • Advanced network management capabilities including traffic analysis and performance monitoring
  • Flexible and adaptable in regard to learning and understanding new technologies
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills
  • Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products
  • Highly self-motivated and directed
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
