We specialize in the manufacture of fuel channel and feeder components, tooling and fueling machine spares.

We are looking for a HR/EHS Coordinator for our facility in Oakville, Ontario.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Human Resources/ Environment Health & Safety Coordinator will be responsible for, and assist with, the day to day operations of the human resources and health and safety departments with duties in the following areas: recruitment, on-boarding and orientation, training, health and safety investigations and continuous improvement.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Human Resources

  • Lead recruitment efforts for all open positions which includes internal and external job postings.
  • Prepare job offers including conducting reference and background checks.
  • Send regret emails to interviewed candidates not selected for hire.
  • Onboard new staff by facilitating orientation sessions, preparing new hire packages and submitting documentation to Payroll.
  • Primary liaison with temporary agencies for booking of temporary staff and timesheet entry.
  • Prepare workspace for new hires and ensure BWXT IT access has been set-up as needed.
  • Ensure employee training is up-to-date by tracking and monitoring expiration dates (e.g. First Aid, WHMIS, emergency procedures, etc.) and facilitate training if able, or coordinate third party trainers to conduct training as necessary.
  • Coordinate probationary review process.
  • Maintain employee information in various software (SAP) and spreadsheets and update as necessary.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with appropriate legislation.
  • Prepare announcements and draft communication as requested.
  • Participate in job fairs or training programs as required.

Environmental Health & Safety

  • Support the review and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Lead the issue resolution process related to near-miss and injury investigations; develop detailed reports based on root cause analysis, recommend solutions, assist in implementation of corrective actions, follow-up where required.
  • Manage WSIB reporting and Return to Work programs.
  • Proactively review work procedures and complete risk assessments where necessary. Identify potentially hazardous situations and take proactive measures to correct them. This includes reviewing reported incidents and unsafe practices.
  • Support contractor Safe Work Plans and delivering safety orientations with contractors from time to time.
  • Relay required safety information to all new hires and temporary support staff when requested.
  • Participate as a member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
  • Maintain the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) binder and ensure SDS’ for all products on site are on hand.
  • Issue EHS Work Permits for all non-routine work.
  • Administer compliance tracking programs and recordkeeping systems (i.e. Gensuite, Learning Management System) for worker training, routine tasks, worker concerns, action items and event reporting.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma/Certificate in Human Resources Management or equivalent experience.
  • Diploma/Certificate in Environmental Health & Safety or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years working in a combined human resources/health & safety position is an asset.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation, health & safety legislation and WSIB requirements.
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in the use of MS Office.
  • Detail oriented and ability to work to tight timelines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with employees at various levels of the organization.
