Fenerbahce have announced that their manager, José Mourinho, underwent a successful gallbladder operation in his home country of Portugal and is now in good health.
The Turkish Super Lig club issued a statement on Monday, saying, “Mourinho had a successful gallbladder operation in his country Portugal today.
“We wish our coach, who is in very good health, a speedy recovery.”
Mourinho, who returned to Portugal after Fenerbahce’s final match of 2024, a 1-1 draw, is expected to rejoin the team soon.
Despite his health setback, the 61-year-old has assured fans he will be back in Istanbul to lead the team for their next game against Hatayspor on January 5.
This operation comes amid a challenging debut season for Mourinho at Fenerbahce.
The team has won only one of their last four matches, falling eight points behind arch-rivals and league leaders Galatasaray.
