Plains Midstream Canada is currently looking to fill the position of Electrical Journeyperson in the Sherwood Park Area. As a member of the Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls department, the successful candidate’s duties will include, but are not limited to, performing and overseeing the daily and maintenance activities in accordance with company standards, policies and procedures. A strong background in automation and PLC programming is key.

This is a position which requires a 9/80 shift schedule with every 2nd Friday as an EDO.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, install, and commission electrical equipment such as instrumentation, motor control centers, motors, switchgear, VFD’s, MOV’s, HVAC’s and other electrical equipment in a safe and efficient manner;
  • Install, program, and commission various PLCs, Communications equipment, HMIs.
  • Understanding of Canadian Electrical Code requirements;
  • Inspecting and testing the operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults using, electrical and electronic devices;
  • Coordinate with Team Leads, other Electrical Technicians, Instrument Technicians, Mechanical Technicians, Operations, Engineering, contractors as required to execute all work safely, efficiently and effectively;
  • Provide Electrical support and maintenance to ensure system reliability.
  • Develop and execute equipment lock-outs
  • Providing technical input and scope development for operations, capital funded projects and turnarounds;
  • Performing scheduled preventive maintenance and completes test and maintenance reports;
  • Completing all written and electronic records (i.e. work orders, calibration sheets, time entry, material requests) required to document the work in progress and as it is completed;
  • Consulting manufacturer’s manuals, circuit diagrams and blueprints to determine tests and maintenance procedures;
  • Maintain facility records and update drawings as required.
  • Strong focus on safety and accepts responsibility for their safety performance;
  • Complete all required safety and technical training;
  • Complying with Occupational Health & Safety Regulations as well as facility standards and procedures;
  • Providing on-call support during non-business hours for emergency response and maintenance break-ins;

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be a ticketed Electrical Journey Person with PLC programming experience, dual ticketed as an Instrument Technician would be considered a definite asset;
  • Minimum High School graduate;
  • 5 – 10 years prior gas plant, refinery, pipeline or oilfield experience is required;
  • Must have valid class 5 drivers’ license and be able to produce a clean driver’s abstract
  • Permanent residency within 100 KM of the PMC Sherwood Park office is required (relocation assistance will not be provided);
  • Basic computer skills with knowledge of MS Word / Excel and e-mail and Maximo
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills are required.
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks;
  • Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing
