<p><b>DESCRIPTION:</b></p>
<p> New Virginia Majority (NVM) is Virginia’s leading civic engagement organization<br />
 that mobilizes and organizes people of all colors and backgrounds across the state. Our<br />
 year-round approach to organizing involves mass scale voter outreach, linked to ongoing<br />
 community organizing campaigns, intensive leadership development, and advocacy. NVM is<br />
 currently expanding its team. We are seeking conscious and skilled individuals with a deep<br />
 commitment to social change.</p>
<p> NVM is hiring fellows for monitoring electoral boards in 2023. Fellows will have the opportunity<br />
 to work as a part of a state-wide team watching and understanding the manner in which<br />
 elections are conducted across the commonwealth. Positions are available across the state.</p>
<p><b>Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:</b><br />
 â Monitor electoral boards in up to three localities<br />
 â Clear, concise note taking about electoral board meetings<br />
 â Preparing written documents summing up any changes or shifts at a meeting<br />
 â Communicating clearly when asked about what is happening in your electoral board<br />
 meeting<br />
 â Be prepared to comment at electoral board meetings as an interested member of the<br />
 public and NVM</p>
<p><b>Required Skills:</b><br />
 â Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure<br />
 â Willingness to learn about election law and election board procedure in VA</p>
<p> â Ability to communicate across lines of difference<br />
 â Self motivated, organized and able to work independently<br />
 â Ability to work irregular hours<br />
 â Alignment with NVM’s ideology and goals</p>
<p><b>COMPENSATION:</b><br />
 This is a fellowship with a monthly stipend of $2500 for three months, September, October, and<br />
 November. There will be a monthly transportation and phone allowance.</p>
