Job Description

This is an interim position that will potentially last for one year, then convert into a full-time permanent position. You will supervise wait staff in preparing dining room for meals, in serving meals to residents and guests, and in servicing dining room after meals. Crisp linen tablecloths, fine china and top-quality fresh ingredients; this is made-to-order dining at its finest. Seasonal and regional menus are ever-evolving, offering signature dishes and daily specials. And NO LATE NIGHTS means you will have more quality time to maintain a balanced life.

Essential Duties:

  • Ensure that wait staff dresses in designated uniforms that are clean and pressed.
  • Confirm that dining room personnel extend exceptional customer service in seating residents, presenting menus and specials, answering questions, and making suggestions regarding food and services.
  • Make sure that tables are promptly and properly bussed. Ensure that tables are cleared and reset in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Participates in departmental and Community meetings and projects as directed by supervisor.
  • Maintains the daily menu board, table menus and daily specials inserts.
  • Responds to special needs of residents and ensures that wait staff respond in a respectful and service-oriented manner.
  • Supervises and assists staff in delivery of all menu items to residents and guests.
  • Listens to and attempts to resolve any resident complaints. Reports all resident complaints to Executive Director.
  • Directs and coaches dining room personnel to make certain that beverage glasses and cups are kept filled.
  • Makes self available to diners and dining room staff at all times.
  • Checks all work lists, including meal counts and room service tallies.
  • Ensures that room service requests are filled in a timely manner.
  • Assists in establishing staffing schedule; monitors staffing schedule; fills in when gaps in staffing exist.
  • Implements established quality assurance standards for all aspects of services as directed by Executive Director.
  • Supervises safe food handling procedures for wait staff.
  • Monitors the labeling and proper storage of all foods, beverages and condiments.
  • Assists in adherence to staffing goals.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (General Educational Development); or two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working in hospitality, residential, or club dining rooms preferred.
