A day in the life of a Department Coordinator (Tax):

Learning and Development

  • Coordination and organization of existing professional development initiatives for the tax department.
  • Collaboration with partners and senior staff members to identify and plan for future professional development initiatives.
  • Collaboration with other divisions of the firm with a view to enhancing cross-training within the tax department as well as with the other divisions.
  • Ensure that tax department’s professional development initiatives are in line with the firm’s strategic plan as well as the requirements of various professional orders.
  • Communication and coordination of registrations for external training and conferences.

Talent

  • Support partners, senior staff and the Talent & Culture department in on-boarding new staff members in the tax department.
  • Assist partners, senior staff and the Talent & Culture department in the coordination of the staff evaluation process throughout the year.
  • Management and coordination of staff vacation banks and tax department vacation calendar.
  • Coordinate summer student programing within the tax department.

Communications

  • Coordination of various internal and external tax publications, including the selection of authors, editors and deadline management.
  • Work closely with partners, senior staff and the Marketing team to ensure quality of published material and compliance with the firm’s business strategy.
  • Liaise with the Marketing team and external organizations to identify and evaluate publication opportunities.
  • Create and maintain a database of tax publications.

Operations

  • Coordination and organization of recurring and special team meetings.
  • Assist the tax social committee in its organization of tax department social activities.
  • Coordination, organization, and management of special projects.

About you:

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in coordinating and managing various processes.
  • Undergraduate degree in business, or any other pertinent university degree will be considered.
  • Bilingual (French and English), oral and written.
  • Ability to deal with various hierarchical levels in a proactive manner.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and achieve results.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a large team.
  • Advanced problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Solid knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point.
  • Good attitude and positive energy.
  • Personality that thrives in a fast-paced environment, with high tolerance for change.
