<p><b>Job description</b>: Consumer members play an important role by serving on District health boards and commissions, particularly health professions licensing, occupational licensing, and non-licensing health boards.</p>
<p> Please review the requirements listed below, and apply if you are interested in a mayoral appointment to serve as a consumer or public member position for a health board or commission.</p>
<p> LACTATION COMMISSION </p>
<ul>
<li>Be a resident of the District at the time of appointment and while serving;</li>
</ul>
<p> PERINATAL AND INFANT HEALTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE </p>
<ul>
<li>Be a resident of the District at the time of appointment and while serving;</li>
<li>Have children under the age of 5 years</li>
</ul>
<p> HEALTH OCCUPATION BOARDS</p>
<p> In addition, consumer members for the Health Occupation Boards listed below are subject to the following requirements: * Be at least 18 years old; </p>
<ul>
<li>Not be a health professional or in training to become a health professional;</li>
<li>Not have a household member who is a health professional or is in training to become a health professional;</li>
<li>Not own, operate, or be employed in or have a household member who owns, operates, or is employed in a business which has as its primary purpose the sale of goods or services to health professionals or health-care facilities.</li>
</ul>
<p> Within these requirements, the term &#8220;health professional&#8221; means any person licensed or permitted to practice a health occupation in the District that is regulated by any of the District health occupation boards. The term “household member” means a relative, by blood, marriage, or domestic partnership, or a ward of an individual who shares the individual’s actual residence.</p>

<li>Board of Medicine</li>
<li>Board of Nursing</li>
<li>Board of Occupational Therapy</li>
<li>Board of Optometry</li>
<li>Board of Pharmacy</li>
<li>Board of Physical Therapy</li>
<li>Board of Podiatry</li>
<li>Board of Professional Counseling</li>
<li>Board of Psychology</li>
<li>Board of Respiratory Care</li>
<li>Board of Social Work</li>
<li>Board of Veterinary Medicine</li>
</ul>
