We are currently seeking a full-time Construction Materials Laboratory Technician to join our Construction Services team in Duluth, Georgia.

Job Snapshot:

As a Construction Materials Laboratory Technician, you will be a part of a team testing construction-related materials including soil, concrete, aggregate, rock, masonry, and asphalt as well as testing for compliance to ensure the safety and quality of construction projects and providing valuable data to construction professionals. Responsibilities can include:

  • Review of project-specific plans and specifications in preparation for laboratory testing and field observations on construction sites and using Metafield®, and/or other field and laboratory information management systems, for recording testing results
  • Communication of field and laboratory testing results with Construction Services Project Management staff, contractors, and clients;
  • Calibration of field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards.

Complete transparency, working outside isn’t for everyone, and some projects are more spectacular than others. While the primary responsibilities of this position are performed in the lab, testing, and observations on construction projects may be required, based on workload and project needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
  • Proficiently complete data entry into multiple software applications on a smart device, using Microsoft Office and email
  • Effective math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with construction materials testing
  • Experience with ASTM, AASHTO, or ISO standards

One or More Active Certification(s) Preferred:

  • American Concrete Institute (ACI)
  • Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician; Aggregate Testing
  • Masonry Laboratory Testing Technician

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:

  • Working outdoors the time in varying weather conditions
  • Walking over rough and uneven terrain
  • Standing up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasion
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Ability to routinely use a dry-cut saw to cut masonry and concrete specimens to test size
  • Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites
  • Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
