Why is this role important?

The Master and Reference Data Office (MRDO) is responsible for defining and implementing an enterprise-level vision and strategy to enhance master data capabilities for operational, analytical and reporting needs with a focus on key master and reference data domains (e.g. organization, contact, client, geography, and population data) \. High quality and consistent master and reference data ensures that CIHI is able to perform accurate analysis across different data sets.

What you’ll do

– Participates in matrix teams with representatives from the MRDO, master data stewards, program areas and ITS in the development and execution of master data operations, projects and supporting documentation.

– Performs research and analyses in support of MRDO projects and activities.

– Participates in the identification and resolution of important issues relating to master data to ensure effective operation, maintenance and standardized use. This may include assisting with the development of data policies, business rules and documentation for data collection, quality assurance and data element definitions as well as policies for how to use master data in analysis and reporting.

– Liaises with internal and external stakeholders to confirm and validate information to keep master data up to date.

What you’ll bring to the table

– Undergraduate or graduate student in health information, mathematics/statistics, engineering, geography or similar field.

– Strong analytical, conceptual and problem skills.

– Experience using SAS, R or Python for data manipulation and/or statistical analysis.

– Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines.

– Strong writing, interpersonal and communication skills.

– Knowledge of the Canadian health care system and of the importance of master data standards.

– Experience working with CIHI databases, standards or health master data is an asset.

– Experience with MS SharePoint is an asset.

– Experience related to statistical methods and/or business processes associated with developing and reporting on health indicators or metrics is an asset.

– Fluency in both official languages is an asset.
