The Nigerian film industry and Yoruba cultural community are grieving the loss of iconic actor Pa Charles Olumo Sanyaolu, fondly known as Agbako, who passed away at the age of 101.

The legendary actor, whose career left an indelible mark on Nigerian cinema, died early Thursday morning after a brief period of fatigue.

His passing was confirmed by the President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Mr Latin on Instagram.

Without stating the circumstances of his demise, Mr Latin revealed that Agbako’s burial details would soon be shared by his family and association.

“@tampanglobal announces the passing of Pa Charles Olumo Sanyaolu, fondly known as AGBAKO. Details of the burial arrangements will be shared at a later time. Good night father, 25/02/1923 to 31/10/2024,” he wrote.

The news was further confirmed by Nollywood veteran Jide Kosoko, prompting a wave of condolences from actors, filmmakers, and fans across Nigeria and beyond.
