With a background in Electrical and Computer Engineering&comma; the proposed chair will have expertise in specific aspects of underwater sensor networks&comma; such as communication networks&comma; robotics and sensors&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Applicants must provide evidence of demonstrated excellence in and commitment to research and teaching&period; The successful candidate will be expected to establish a strong externally funded research program&comma; supervise graduate student research&comma; participate in service activities at the Department level and beyond&comma; and foster exciting and new collaborations with government and industry&comma; as well as collaborate with members of Dalhousie&&num;8217&semi;s research community&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Dalhousie University is home to the Ocean Frontier Institute and was recently awarded a Canada First Research Excellence Fund towards Transforming Climate Action&colon; Addressing the Missing Ocean&period; The Tier 2 CRC will thus provide opportunities to work with internationally renowned scientists&comma; researchers&comma; and engineering firms to support the development of technology to assess the impact of climate change in the ocean&period; This includes research in underwater robotics&comma; heterogeneous communication networks&comma; sensing devices and systems&period; The technology could also potentially be applied to increase the lifetime of remote platforms and ships&comma; and potentially reduce carbon emissions&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Applicants must have a doctorate in computer engineering&comma; electrical engineering&comma; or a closely related discipline&period; The successful candidate must be eligible for and committed to registration as a Professional Engineer in Nova Scotia&period; The successful candidate must also be able to teach a broad range of undergraduate courses in computer engineering and specialized topics at the graduate level&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Dalhousie is the leading graduate and research university of Atlantic Canada&comma;
