<p> The School of Health Policy &; Management and the School of Nursing, in the Faculty of Health at York<br />
 <br /> University invites highly qualified applicants for a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair (CRC) at the rank of an<br />
 <br /> Associate/Full Professor position in Technoscience and Indigenous Communities. This is a tenure-<br />
 <br /> track appointment to the Professorial Stream to commence January 1, 2024.<br />
 <br /> The Canada Research Chairs (CRC) program seeks to attract outstanding researchers for careers at<br />
 <br /> Canadian universities. Tier 1 Chairs are intended for outstanding researchers acknowledged by their<br />
 <br /> peers as world leaders in their fields. Appointment to a Tier 1 Chair is for seven years, is renewable<br />
 <br /> once, and comes with enhanced research support from the program. Nominees for Tier 1 Chair<br />
 <br /> positions must be full professors or associate professors who are expected to be promoted to the full<br />
 <br /> professor level within one or two years of the nomination. Alternatively, if they come from outside the<br />
 <br /> academic sector, nominees must possess the necessary qualifications to be appointed at these levels.<br />

<p> This is a research-enhanced faculty position partially funded by the program, funded<br />
 <br /> in part by the Canada First Research Excellence Fund. The successful candidate will be eligible for</p>
<p> enhanced start-up funds. In addition, the successful candidate will engage with, and benefit from, the<br />
 <br /> Connected Minds program, which focuses on scholarship in three main themes: I. Co-creating<br />
 <br /> Research for Societal Needs and Predicted Impact; II. Fundamentals of Social Interaction: Neural,<br />
 <br /> Algorithmic, and Social Networks; and III. Designing and Developing Socially Responsible<br />
 <br /> Technologies. The Connected Minds program is supported by a total of $318 million in funding over<br />
 <br /> seven years.</p>
<p> Candidate Qualifications1: </p>
<ul>
<li>Degree: PhD, MD, DrPH or equivalent doctoral degree with a substantial record of professional</li>
</ul>
<p> experience in Indigenous health and wellness research and programming, and technology is<br />
 <br /> required. Experience in health care practice and/or health care services is highly desired. </p>
<ul>
<li>Scholarship:</li>
</ul>
<p> o A coherent and well-articulated program of research on the health and wellness of Indigenous<br />
 <br /> Peoples and communities through the co-creation of research and the development and/or use<br />
 <br /> of culturally responsive health and wellness-impacting technologies and practices. This may<br />
 <br /> include scholarship on wellness for Indigenous Peoples, addressing holistic (mental, physical,<br />
 <br /> emotional, spiritual) and interconnected (with the natural and spirit worlds, past/future<br />
 <br /> generations) approaches, and/or developing accessible technology and safeguards, including in<br />
 <br /> Indigenous communities. Candidates must have demonstrated leadership abilities in supporting<br />
 <br /> community engagement activities including First Nations, Métis, Inuit and urban Indigenous<br />
 <br /> communities.<br />
 <br /> o A record of generating innovative, substantive, rigorous, and as appropriate, externally funded<br />
 <br /> research.<br />
 <br /> o A record of making influential contributions and demonstrating excellence in the field by the<br />
 <br /> establishment of community-based research and programming, ongoing health and wellness<br />
 <br /> related activities, publications in peer-reviewed journals, knowledge mobilization with/for<br />
 <br /> communities, presentations at international conferences and workshops, and influence on<br />
 <br /> Indigenous health and wellness policies and programs. </p>

<li>Teaching:</li>
</ul>
<p> o A record of excellence in teaching and dedication to students demonstrating experience in<br />
 <br /> decolonizing/indigenizing education, such as addressing issues of conflict resolution, human<br />
 <br /> rights, and/or anti-racism within the curriculum. The candidate should have experience in<br />
 <br /> graduate supervision and developing academic and career pathways for Indigenous health<br />
 <br /> professionals.<br />
 <br /> o Suitability for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies, given that the position will<br />
 <br /> involve graduate teaching and supervision. </p>
