“Burkina Faso is 10x better than Nigeria” — Lady shares ‘Japa’ experience

A young Nigerian lady who relocated to Burkina Faso two years ago has gone viral on social media after sharing a heartfelt comparison between life in the West African country and her experience back home.

In a widely circulated video, the lady warned fellow Nigerians against advising her to return to Nigeria, describing Burkina Faso—though less developed—as significantly better in terms of basic living conditions.

According to her, under the leadership of Burkina Faso’s Captain Ibrahim Traoré, she has enjoyed a quality of life she never experienced in Nigeria. She praised the country’s affordable cost of living, stable power supply, and better governance.

Why living conditions are better in Burkina Faso than Nigeria

“Nigeria is better in what way? Burkina Faso is not so developed like Nigeria but are ten times better. I can go to the market with a thousand and buy food meant for four people. The government doesn’t mess around here; fuel hasn’t increased since I got here; electricity doesn’t go off and when it would for just 30 minutes, it would be announced on the radio,” she ranted.

The lady also criticized the insecurity in Nigeria, noting that it is unsafe to walk at night in many parts of the country. She further compared President Bola Tinubu to Burkina Faso’s 36-year-old leader, saying Burkinabés are proud of their president, while many Nigerians are not.

“How will you compare the youngest president in Africa—Captain Ibrahim Traoré—to Tinubu? They are proud of their president here; how many people is proud of Tinubu there? If you go to market in Nigeria with N1000, you can only buy seasoning cubes,” she added.

Her remarks have sparked mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians agreeing with her perspective, while others challenged her views by pointing to the challenges Burkina Faso also faces, particularly in the area of security.
