Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface marked his return from international duty with a goal as Bayer Leverkusen beat Bochum 3-1 at the BayArena.

Boniface, who has struggled for regular game time since returning from injury in January, netted in the 60th minute, converting a cross from Piero Hincapié to restore Leverkusen’s lead.

Alex García had given the hosts the lead in the 20th minute, but Felix Passlack equalized for Bochum before halftime.

Amine Adli sealed the win for Leverkusen with a late strike.

With the victory, Xabi Alonso’s side remains in contention for the Bundesliga title, keeping pressure on Bayern Munich at the top of the table.

Boniface has now scored 11 goals in 23 appearances this season and will look to build on this performance as Leverkusen continues it title push.
