Napoli boss Antonio Conte and Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi have both been banned from the touchline for next weekend’s final Serie A fixtures, where the Scudetto will be decided.
Conte was dismissed during Napoli’s frustrating 0-0 stalemate at Parma on Sunday, while Inzaghi saw red in Inter’s 2-2 draw with Lazio.
As a result, both tacticians will be forced to watch their respective title deciders from the stands.
Conte clashed with Parma’s bench during a tense encounter at the Tardini, leading to a double dismissal alongside Parma manager Christian Chivu.
The former Tottenham and Juventus coach expressed frustration after the game, citing time-wasting tactics as a major grievance:
“It irritates me, because you work all year to have a decisive match,” he said. “I trust my staff and the players, but I was annoyed by Parma’s obstruction. In England, play flows more, here, it was stop-start football.”
Meanwhile, Inzaghi’s dismissal came in the dying minutes at San Siro, following a heated exchange with Lecce manager Marco Baroni, who demanded a VAR review for a potential handball by Yann Bisseck.
Referee intervention led to Inzaghi’s expulsion and a penalty for Lazio, which Pedro duly converted.
Napoli will host Cagliari next at the Maradona Stadium, while Inter travel to newly promoted Como.
