Egyptian club Zamalek have parted ways with former Super Eagles‘ coach Jose Peseiro by mutual consent following a string of underwhelming results.
The decision comes on the heels of a 2-2 draw with National Bank, which further compounded pressure on the Portuguese tactician, who only took charge in February on a two-year deal.
“Zamalek and Jose Peseiro agree to end the relationship by mutual consent. We wish him the best in future,” the club said in an official statement.
Peseiro, 65, has faced mounting pressure since Zamalek’s CAF Confederation Cup exit to Stellenbosch of South Africa last month.
Domestically, the White Knights are floundering, sitting seven points behind surprise league leaders Pyramids FC.
Under Peseiro’s guidance, Zamalek managed just seven wins from 17 matches, alongside eight draws and two defeats, a record deemed insufficient for a club of Zamalek’s stature.
The hunt for a new manager begins immediately as the Cairo-based side look to salvage their season.
