Xavi Hernández has announced his decision to leave Barcelona at the end of the current season following his team’s 5-3 loss to Villarreal.

The defeat seems to have been a tipping point for the coach, who expressed a belief that it is time for a change at the club.

In his statement, Xavi emphasized the need for a shift in dynamic at Barcelona, stating, “We have reached a point of no return. It’s time for change. As a Culé, I think that it’s time to leave.”

He revealed that he had discussions with the club’s board and confirmed his departure on June 30th.

Acknowledging his responsibility for the team’s performance, Xavi expressed his belief that his departure would allow the players to feel liberated and enable the club to move forward positively.

He also referenced the recent criticism directed at him and the team by the media, expressing hope that his decision would bring about a more calmer atmosphere.

Meanwhile, following Xavi’s announcement, midfielder Frenkie de Jong took responsibility for the team’s performance, stating, “It’s our fault, players’ fault — if it doesn’t work out it’s our fault.”
