X user barbiecuefish is facing backlash after allegedly faking a network issue during a verification call—precisely at the moment she was asked to name the hospital where her sister is reportedly receiving treatment for a kidney condition.

The incident, now circulating widely on the platform formerly known as Twitter, was made public by another user, @Hybrid_Ola who shared what transpired.

According to the report, @barbiecuefish had earlier posted that her sister urgently needed a kidney transplant costing ₦10 million and began soliciting funds from the public.

She successfully raised about ₦3.5 million in donations.

In a bid to ensure transparency, concerned individuals and potential contributors organized a call with @barbiecuefish to ask basic questions about the case.

However, when she was asked to state the name of the hospital her sister was admitted to, she suddenly began to simulate poor network connectivity.

Participants on the call said she could be heard repeating: “Hello? Hello? You dey hear me? Abi the phone don off again? Hello…” before the call dropped—raising suspicions that she was deliberately avoiding the question.

As of 24 hours after the call, @barbiecuefish has not released any hospital records or proof to validate her claims, intensifying allegations that the story may have been fabricated to fraudulently collect donations.

What began as an emotional public appeal has now turned into a potential fraud case, with people demanding answers.
