Busola Olanrewaju, the grieving widow of Nigerian boxer Segun Olanrewaju, has made a passionate appeal for the release of her husband’s body for burial.

The late Segun tragically passed away in the ring during a match in Ghana two months ago, and an autopsy revealed that he died from sudden cardiac arrest.

However, in a viral video circulating on social media, his grieving wife and mother of two expressed deep frustration and helplessness over the prolonged delay of his body in Ghana.

According to her, efforts to retrieve her husband’s remains have been met with vague promises and no clear answers.

“I am helpless right now. It is taking a lot of time, they should return his body,. My children are still young, I need to go out and make ends meet; they are lacking in a lot of ways. I have only been getting ‘very soon’ whenever I call out the authorities involved,” she said in the video. “

Busola revealed that her parents have been helping to cover some expenses, but the ongoing delay is affecting her ability to properly care for her children and move forward.

The late boxer, Segun Olanrewaju Success, died during a professional fight in Ghana, sparking concern within Nigeria’s sports community about athlete welfare and emergency medical protocols during matches.

As of now, no official explanation has been given by the authorities in Ghana regarding the delay in releasing the body. The Olanrewaju family continues to appeal to both Nigerian and Ghanaian authorities to expedite the process and allow them to lay their loved one to rest.
