Paul Pogba has expressed openness to playing in Ligue 1 as he prepares to return to football after his doping ban was reduced.

Recall the French man’s doping ban was reduced from four years to 18 months.

Speaking to L’Equipe television, Pogba, who has never played in the French top flight during his senior career, said, “Why not?” when asked about the possibility of joining a Ligue 1 club.

“We don’t know what tomorrow will be made of, why not play in Ligue 1? I don’t have to say no,” he added.

The former Manchester United player, currently contracted with Juventus until 2026, will be eligible to return to competitive action in March 2024, just before his 32nd birthday.

However, his contract with Juventus has been terminated on mutual grounds, forcing the player to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Reflecting on his ban, Pogba described the suspension as a “nightmare” and said he’s eager to get back on the pitch.

“Football is the strawberry cake that was taken out of my mouth.”
