Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has revealed what he told the ladies in his class who refused to date him because he was poor after meeting at their school reunion.
During an interview with Daily Sun, Amaechi opened up about the struggle he went through growing up as a child.

According to him, feeding was a problem for him and his family, while adding that they could not afford 3 square meals.
He further added that they couldn’t afford to buy clothes either. Amaechi said that when he tells people he wore the same shirt and trousers for almost four years, many find it hard to believe.
Amaechi during the interview disclosed that when he met his classmates who refused to date him because of his poor background, he referred them to how they rejected him and how they are missing the opportunity of being ‘Mrs Amaechi’.
“We’re going for a reunion in Umuahia, and I usually yab my classmates when we meet at reunions. I would say ‘You see, one of you could’ve been Mrs Amaechi now, maybe if you had agreed by the time we were in school.’”
Further talking, he said, “But, because we were very poor, we did not have the money to feed, we did not have cloths to wear, you people did not give us attention. You people did not think we’ve bright future. But one thing you do not know about men is that, they fight to be relevant. So, for me, I’m as simple as life can give.”
