Chelsea’s French defender, Wesley Fofana, is confident about returning to the pitch ahead of schedule from his current injury.

According to L’Équipe, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Fofana, who has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury sustained during a match against Aston Villa, is now setting his sights on making a comeback around mid to late March.

Fofana’s injury had initially been projected to keep him out for several months, with Blues manager Enzo Maresca suggesting a possible out-of-season.

However, the player’s recent updates suggest a more optimistic recovery timeline.

His return would be a significant boost for Chelsea, who have only managed two points in their last four Premier League outings.

The 24-year-old has been a vital part of Chelsea’s defensive line when fit, having started 12 out of Chelsea’s 13 Premier League games before his injury.

This news comes as a relief to Chelsea fans and the club’s management, who have been dealing with a series of defensive injuries this season.

The club are currently evaluating their options in the January transfer market to bolster its backline.
